Event: Salve Expressive & Creative Arts Mini-Conference & Summer Gathering

Date: Saturday – Sunday  AUGUST 5-6, 2017
Saturday 9:00am – 5:00pm

Sunday 9:00am – 4:00pm

We are delighted that you will be joining us,
for the : Salve Expressive Arts
Gathering and Mini-Conference 2017!
It promises to be a wonderful opportunity to share in gathering,
and to re-source together with our Salve Expressive & Creative Arts (ECA) community.

The Time is drawing near, and we are gathering energy for our upcoming journeys!

A few notes to help get ready:

PARKING INFO:
There are parking lots directly next to the Young Building,
and for this weekend, we are utilizing the parking lot,
and this weekend will not need any fee or permit to park there.

Arrival :

Volunteers: Notes will be coming to each of you about those roles…
for now – If you have signed up to help out
for Saturday or Sunday morning
greeting and check-in at registration,

please plan to arrive between 7:45am – 8:00am that day to help us get ready for the day.

Everybody else,
please aim to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45am

 on Saturday.
for checking in and getting oriented…
as we’ll aim to start all together for the day meet & greet at 9:00am
and 9:30 am to begin Full Group OPENING Ceremony.

Saturday 8:30am – 9:00 Arrival / Registration
9:00-9:30 Meet & Greet and Settling in
Opening Circle at 9:30am
Saturday Morning Session: 9:30am – 12:30pm

We will have water, tea, light snacks:
LUNCH : Please plan to Bring your own lunch, brown bag, get take out, etc.
12:30 – 1:45pm

Saturday Afternoon Session: after lunch to 5:00pm

Saturday Afternoon Session wraps up at 5:00pm

• Saturday evening we are purposefully keeping the schedule open,
for any independent time needed, rest, eating, socializing, Enjoy!

Sunday AUGUST 6th

Sunday 8:30am – 9:00 Arrival / Registration
9:00 Meet and Greet and Settling in
Sunday Morning Session: 9:15am – 12:30pm

LUNCH : Bring your own lunch, brown bag, etc.
12:30 – 1:45pm  Young Building

Saturday Afternoon Session: after lunch to 4:00pm

Sunday Afternoon Session wraps up by 4:00pm


To Bring with you: 

  • a Journal for  imaging/writing
• and a portable box of markers/pastels
for anytime that you may need them during the day.

We’ll also have materials for experiential portions,
but it will helpful for everyone
to bring these basic items to have on hand if possible.

• For SATURDAY afternoon, there will be a “resting moment” involving resting as an option on the floor
(or it could be simply sitting in a chair if that is more comfortable)
We will have some yoga mats for lying on the floor,
but IF you have a yoga mat, and if it’s easy for you to bring it, for SATURDAY Afternoon
that will help everyone to be well taken care of during that moment.

• For SUNDAY morning, weather permitting, we plan to have portions of the morning outside.
We recommend bringing a Towel or blanket to sit on for SUNDAY
(chairs will also be available, and other options will be made as needed)

• Suggested: Bring a water bottle to have with you.

  • For lunch, this year in the interest of keeping it simple,
it’s “Bring your own lunch” or go out for local takeout,
just as we do typically for other classes.
In addition there will be some water and tea in the morning,
and some light snacks (fruit, nuts).

• For your own needs during the day,
Please plan in advance to bring
your own particular snacks and beverages, water bottle, etc. for class breaks.

In addition, for Sharing:
For those of you who are interested to share flyers, brochures, info about your work,
please bring!

• and optional – Creative work /Art Pieces to Show,
or even items for sale

you may want to start getting ready to bring/prepare what you’d like to share.
If you’re considering bringing some creative work to show we’d love to have you bring it!
All weekend long, space will be setup as an open “gallery”…
and we also will have some time on Sunday to visit with the creators, so bring it on down!

(Due to space limitations, depending on the size of your pieces,
aiming for 1 – 4 pieces of creative work is probably good?
any questions on that please check with Christopher)

And if you are bringing items to Display,
please plan to come early on Saturday by 8:30am if possible,

We will have a spot for you to place your items during the day.


We’ll be opening with a full group on Saturday morning
where we will welcome additional guests to join us for the morning.

And then for the complete weekend experience:
We’ll have more of a workshop-sized group.

We feel that this size will also be a blessing for this year,
as it will give us a more personalized “workshop” feel,
and will be manageable to have everyone gather together.
We will receive people traveling from a distance and others who are local,
we’ll have ‘Expressive Friends’ from years ago, recent graduates,
and some who are currently in the programs, and some new guests, too,
– a vibrant mix of creative individuals coming together.

We look forward to GATHERING with you all!
